Addressing the county officials on Wednesday at Kisii county headquarters during the presentation of the corruption assessment report of the policies, procedures and practices, Deputy secretary/CEO of the ethics and anti-corruption commission (EACC) Mr Michael Mubea said that it is wrong for the MCAs who were on a maternity leave to take sitting allowance while they were away.

“As we are here presenting this report I would like to urge the members of county assembly who took the sitting allowances while they were away to return the money before the law is applied,” said Mubea.

According to the report, there are some Members of county assembly who were given sitting allowances while they were on leave in the month of September, October in 2015.

Mr Mubea called upon Kisii county executive and the county assembly to immediately embark on the implementation of the recommendation made in the report.

“As the starting point, you will be expected to prepare an implementation plan to be submitted to EACC within one month, this will assist both EACC and the county Government to engage in continuous monitoring of the implementation process,” said Mr Mubea.
