Two returning officers were hospitalized in Embu on Thursday being attacked by supporters of aspirants.

The officers sustained injuries after being hit on their heads by rowdy supporters of aspirants.

Laptops containing data were also reportedly stolen during the chaos.

Kenneth Kamenchu, one of the officers, sustained serious head injuries after he was attacked at Kangaru High School polling station by supporters of Runyenjes MP aspirant Erick Muchagi and Runyenjes Central MCA Steve Munene.

He also broke one of the fingers on his right hand before he was rescued by policemen who fired in the air.

They demanded that Kamenchu give them a provisional certificate, but an exchange ensued before the mob descended on him and assaulted him.
