The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) on Thursday issued a road safety report showing the frequency of accidents since January 2016.
In the conclusions, NTSA named Wajir as the county with the safest roads remarking that no fatal accident had been registered in the region.
On the other hand, Nairobi emerged as the county with the most slippery roads with 256 cases being recorded since January. The Metropolis is followed by Nakuru, Kiambu, and Makueni.
According to the study, Thika Superhighway topped the list of Nairobi's most deadly roads with 30 fatalities recorded.
The state-of-the-art highway is followed closely by Mombasa Road, Waiyaki Way, Eastern By-pass, Kangundo and Jogoo roads.
The road safety report indicated that 1574 people had died in road accidents since January.
NTSA further stated that most accidents occur on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with Saturday recording the unusual numbers.
The report highlighted that most accidents occurred in the evening especially in the 8pm hour.
Tiredness, speeding, drunk-driving, as well as reckless driving and crossing the road along major highways were pinpointed as the core reasons for accidents on the roads.
