NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga currently has 12 bodyguards and a lead car at his disposal, reports SDE.
The former prime minister is always accompanied by at least four or five bodyguards.
The source also revealed that the Cord leader has police officers at his home.
The former prime minister will need more security as we head to the polls as per an insider in Raila’s team.
“Raila’s security needs to be enhanced now that he is a presidential candidate,” said the source.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s government has deliberately denied the opposition leader security because of reasons best known to themselves as the race to State House becomes tougher.
“That (provision of security) should be made available, but the government has deliberately decided to misbehave.
According to the Act, he should have proper security detail by virtue of being a retired Prime Minister. The law is very clear, but some people don’t want to enforce it,” says Mbadi.
The former prime minister not the only leader affected when it comes to security. A few months ago Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason Kingi hit headlines over withdrawal of their security details.
