The family of rugby player Mike Okombe has revealed that their son was killed in a plan hatched by other rugby players.
According to his father Josephat Shitindo Okombe, the murder was done by assailants who combined efforts to kill him.
He said that the many bruises his son had were a result of struggling to entangle himself from the killers before they finally overpowered him.
He said that while leaving home on Friday, the young Okombe was on a mission to clear with Kabarak University before his December graduation and to clear with Nakuru Top Fry after he signed a new deal with Kabras Sugar RFC.
“I still cannot believe that my son, who had become the sole bread winner of the family, has been murdered,” he said.
The family is now calling upon the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to begin proper investigations and handle the case with the seriousness it deserves.
“We are calling upon the office of the DPP to ensure justice has prevailed by expediting the investigations and have my son’s killers held accountable,” said Mr Shitindo.
Among the four suspects arrested are three rugby players Calvin Okoth, Erick Mochache and Vincent Omondi.
The fourth suspect is Okombe’s girlfriend Maryanne Mumbi.
