A senior Jubilee Presidential campaign team admits that the team has been issuing money to lure people to join rallies in perceived opposition strongholds.
Both campaign teams of leading presidential candidates are involved in intensive campaigns with just a week to elections.
And on Monday, the team descended on NASA’s perceived strongholds in Kisii County where President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed a series of rallies.
“There is no problem when you give Sh 500 of Sh 1000 to people to attend rallies. That does not amount to bribery and we only want to have many people on table.
“Our target is to have them to stadiums to listen to our message and manifestos. That is the way to go and those who claim its bribery are just tensing,” he told the reporter in confidence.
Earlier on Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was seen with a number of politicians dishing money outside the main entry to Gusii stadium.
Under the various Election Laws, issuance of cash to supporters is regarded as an offense although electoral body IEBC is yet to take disciplinary measurers against offenders.
