Despite his absence from the country, President Uhuru Kenyatta committed himself in mourning with families that lost their loved ones in the grisly Narok accident a fortnight ago.
Nine of the 21 people who perished in the Nairobi bound Daima Connections bus had their roots in Nyamira County.
At the requiem mass held on Thursday at Nyamira Primary Grounds, several leaders joined families of the victims in condoling with them.
"It is sad that the road continues to take lives without action from government. A dual carriage should be constructed," said Governor John Nyagarama.
Area senator Okong'o Mogeni said: "Time has come to instill professionalism in our roads. Some accidents can be controlled."
Uhuru, who is on an official tour in London, sent Sh1 milliom which will be divided equally among the family of the victims.
Nyamira County assembly paid Sh32, 000, executive wing Sh100, 000 while ex-Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire gave Sh,40, 000 to the victims.
