Kenya Meteorological Department Director Peter Ambenje said rains will continue causing flooding in low lying areas near the coastline.

Mr Ambenje said on Wednesday 9th May and Thursday 10th May, moderate rainfall of more than 30mm is expected in Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale counties.

“The rains are likely to continue causing flooding in low lying areas near the coastline and water repositories. The Flooding situation may worsen in some parts due to the fact that a lot of water has been accumulating on the ground since last week,” said Mr Ambenje as quoted by Nation.

Nairobi residents living along Lang’ata Road, Forest Road, South B, Kilimani and Syokimau have also been warned of heavy rainfall.

The weatherman advised the people to be more cautious as the rains continue hitting many parts of the county warning those in low lying area to relocate to higher ground.

“People should avoid drinking, wading or walking through any fast moving waters. Further advisories will be issued as we follow upon the progress of this weather event,” he added.
