Until his election, Babu served as SONU chairman for four consecutive terms before venturing into national politics.
And the ODM MP has fired warning to University heads that might have suspended students without valid reasons and the students loans board HELB.
‘Thank you comrades for helping me graduate to another level. It has been a tough journey but you stood with me all through,” he said in his Facebook account.
He added: “Once sworn in, I will ensure that comrades who were suspended are reinstated through parliament. I will also ensure Helb is increased to meet your demands.”
The fiery student leader caused panic when former American President Barack Obama visited Kenya in 2015 after he threatened to lead students in a demonstration if Obama skipped University of Nairobi.
In parliament, he is expected to be one of the most vocal MPs alongside renowned figures like Millie Odhiambo and Kimani Inchungwa.
