Despite his wealth and position in the society, deceased former powerful minister Nicholas Biwott reportedly never owned a mobile phone.
During President Moi regime, Biwott commonly known as Total Man or the Bull of Auckland by his peers, used to single handedly helped Moi to run government.
Multiple sources who spoke in confidence revealed that the billionaire businessman cum politician usually sort help from friends to make calls when h dimmed necessary.
“He was such a secretive man and people rarely understood him. He never owned a cell phone and that life was just ok with him,” a source told the Daily Nation.
“He would just borrow from friends when he wanted to call. He would immediately delete the contact which he extracted from a notebook,” added another source.
As a politician and a successful businessman, Biwott owned an empire of businesses in and outside the country among them the famous Yaya Centre in Nairobi.
Until his death, Total Man served at least eight ministries and lost his parliamentary seat in 2007 and reverted to a quiet life outside politics.
