[Photo|Courtesy]IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, CEO Ezra Chiloba and other commissioners have been criticised for failing to show up for the funeral service of the late Christopher Chege Msando. The burial of the late IEBC ICT director, took place at his family's home in Lifunga village, Ugunja, Siaya County, Saturday.
Several opposition leaders, led by NASA chief Raila Odinga, co-principals, Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, attended the ceremony, that saw hundreds of mourners in attendance.Other leaders present were Siaya Senator James Orengo, Kisumu Governor-elect Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, Siaya Governor Cornell Rasanga, and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi.
IEBC chiefs are said to have been represented by Nyanza Regional Officer. They have however been criticised by the ODM party commissions director, Philip Etale, who wondered why Chebukati, Chiloba and fellow commissioners could not help Msando's family, in giving him a farewell by attending the ceremony."Chris Msando was laid to rest at his father's home in Ugenya. Surprisingly, none of his colleagues IEBC was present," Etale said.He added: "It is tradition that colleagues of a deceased person travel to their home to take part in the funeral. IEBC snubbed Msando's funeral."
The late IEBC ICT director who was buried, Saturday August 19, went missing on July 29 only for his relatives to find his body at Nairobi’s City Mortuary.Mortuary attendants said the body was taken to the mortuary by police officers who found it at a thicket in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. He is survived by wife Eva Buyu Msando, and four kids.
