The repeat presidential elections may be impossible in some constituencies as NASA supporters blocked transportation of election materials rendering some polling centres inaccessible.

The areas affected by this boycott are largely in Nyanza region.

The constituencies among the 35 identified by a NASA allied MP are largely in Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Siaya counties which the commission has announced having postponed the exercise to Saturday.

According to Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, the election has flopped and the winner would not be legitimately elected as many constituencies have failed to have the elections conducted.

"This thing has flopped spectacularly. In at least 35 constituencies, not even a single vote has been cast up to now," posted Wandayi on his twitter handle at just 3 hours to the polling stations closure.

In the four counties, most of the IEBC officials failed to turn up to work with those contracted to distribute the materials being reported to have given the job a wide berth.

Earlier, there were claims that in Siaya, the governor had hoodwinked IEBC officials that he would keep election materials for them at his office where they would be safe but disappeared on the election day.

Gem MP Elijah Odhiambo has dismissed claims that Siaya Governor had locked up election materials saying Governor Rasanga had no responsibility on the security or distribution of the materials.

“This is not true that the governor has gone missing to sabotage the elections. He has no key that would lock up the materials as being alleged,” said Odhiambo.

The MP termed an incident in which locals at Karapuli primary school killed and hanged a dog with a Jubilee party cap at the polling centre’s entrance as a way to show they do not want elections in the county.

Constitutionally, it is required that presidential elections are held in all the constituencies in Kenya before the winner is declared as president-elect.
