Kenya Meteorological Services Director Peter Ambenje issued the warning of heavy downpour throughout the weekend that will spread in the coming week.

According to the forecast Garissa, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo counties will continue to have rains in the mornings and afternoons over the weekend and Monday.

“Several places might experience moderate to heavy morning rains and afternoon/night showers. On Monday, moderate to heavy showers might occur in the afternoon.”

“Rainfall amounts are expected to increase over much of the country in the second half of the forecast period,” said the director.

Garissa is among counties that have experienced heavy rains and floods for the past month resulting in death, extensive damage to property and disruption of the network across the country.

The weatherman warned that the heavy rains could cause flooding in some areas warning those in low lying areas to relocate to higher ground.

Central highlands which cover Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties will have cloudy mornings with light rains.
