Details of the telephone conversation between President Uhuru Kenyatta and US President Donald Trump have been revealed.

The Tuesday call was Trump's fourth such call to leaders across the African continent since he took over from Barrack Obama.

Among the key issues discussed was the bilateral relationship between Kenya and the US.

“The two leaders discussed our economic partnership and mutual dedication to overcoming terrorism and other regional security challenges through close cooperation.”

“President Trump expressed appreciation for Kenya’s significant contributions to the African Union Mission in Somalia and recognised Kenyan troops’ sacrifices in the fight against al-Shabaab,” said the White House through their official website.

The two also discussed ways aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment in Kenya as well as the larger East Africa region.

The first call Trump made to Africa was to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari where he addressed matters of military aid to the West African country.
