Deputy President William Ruto and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka could partner in the 2022 general election, confidential sources say.
According to the sources, DP Ruto and Kalonzo’s point-men are in talks over the possibility of the two working together in 2022.
Sources observe that DP Ruto and Kalonzo talked over their possibility of partnering during an iftar dinner at the Nairobi City County on Thursday last week.
According to sources, DP Ruto is keen on working with Kalonzo to get the Ukambani support as he plans for his 2022 bid.
The Deputy President recently reconciled with Kalonzo and their new relationship is said to be pegged on 2022.
During the national prayer breakfast three weeks ago, DP Ruto and Kalonzo embraced in presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, the possibility of Kalonzo backing DP Ruto’s 2022 bid are high.
In an interview on Wednesday, Ngure said that Kalonzo could be easily convinced to drop his bid in favor of Ruto.
“You cannot predict in politics and the ways things are shaping up, Kalonzo and Ruto might partner in 2022,” Ngure said.
Ngure said Ruto and Kalonzo partnership will excite voters and easily hand them the presidency.
On Tuesday while opening Wiper offices in Karen Nairobi, Kalonzo said his 2022 bid is unstoppable.
Kalonzo said he has waited for too long to be president and that 2022 is his golden chance.
