Deputy President William Ruto spoke at the coast Tuesday after his presentation at the Legislative Council in the Coast region.
Ruto said that he was ready to engage with the coastal leaders even if that meant closed-door meetings to discuss issues.
''I am ready to engage with the leaders from the coast. Even if it means us sitting somewhere behind closed doors. I am ready,'' the deputy president said.
His words came after a number of the region's leaders expressed their willingness to work with him ahead of the 2022 presidential elections.
The Coast region has long been seen as an opposition stronghold as it has thrown its weight behind successive Raila's presidential bids.
This is as the leaders revealed plan to form a coastal party going forward.
