An explosive letter from ODM party led to prompt sacking of a senior aid to electoral commission chairman Wafula Chebukati.
Gekara Mouni, who has been working as Personal Assistant to IEBC boss, was reportedly axed on Sunday morning according to sources within the commission over alleged leaking of information.
Although at least two secret memos from the chairman’s desk have leaked before, Mouni’s woes however, are occasioned by ODM party.
Tough court battles had been lined up following controversial nomination of Damaris Mouni, mother to Mr Gekara on an ODM ticket without knowledge of party cycles.
Reportedly, Mr. Mouni inserted his mother’s name on the ODM list and subsequently expunged the name of Irene Nyakerario, who had been proposed by the party.
Upon finding out about the ‘strange’ nominee, ODM lawyer Tony Moturi wrote an explosive letter to IEBC that led to subsequent deletion of Mrs Mouni’s name with Nyakerario.
An agitated Mouni however took the matter to Nyamira High Court in which IEBC, Nyamira County Assembly and ODM party were sued.
Wafula Chebukati’s decision could have been arrived after he found out the mystery behind the current court battle in which he has been sued.
