In his books Against All odds, Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka records that his wife Pauline drove to his office in 1998 and rescued him after angry striking teachers blocked him from leaving office.
The teachers were striking over poor remuneration. The Ukambani political kingpin notes that hundreds of teachers had surrounded his office, adding that no vehicle with government registration could pass the gate. He adds that his wife, who was not known by many drove to the place to rescue him from the teachers at Jogoo House.‘
’At one point during the strike, hundreds of teachers had picketed the entire Harambee Avenue, outside the ministry. They inspected each and every vehicle entering and leaving Jogoo House demanding to talk to “the minister with a baby face”.
He notes that he had no choice but to call his wife who quickly drove to the place. He further notes that the strike ended after consultation led by his mentor Mulu Mutisya. The wife of the Former Vice President has since stayed away from the public domain.
Last year, Kalonzo spent several months abroad taking care of her after she was hospitalized. Not much is known about her current health condition.
