A detailed report has revealed that the county government spent Sh19 million during the swearing-in ceremony of Garissa Governor Ali Korane.According to a local daily, the said amount was used in expenses and committee members’ allowances. The committee used Sh11.5 million during the swearing-in ceremony and Sh8.4 million on the Assumption of Office Committee. The report also revealed that Sh4, 770, 000 was paid for sitting allowance for the three non-civil servants, 22 committee members, and chairman.The governor, county assembly clerk and Devolution Cabinet Secretary and Planning Cabinet Mwangi Kiunjuri have a copy of the report. The team also spent a good sum of money on security, first aid provision and lodge services. In the meantime, the governor has pledged to transform the lives of the residents in the next five years.He has promised to develop different areas of the economy after succeeding Wiper’s Nathif Jama following a tight contest. The governor is expected to address different areas in the county including security, water shortage, and infrastructure and youth empowerment during his term in office.
