Lawyers attached to NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga may have a busy six months as election losers seeks to overturn victories of their rivals in lower courts.
In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court of Kenya became the third in the world to nullify the victory of a sitting president and the first in African continent.
And lawyers James Orengo, Okong’o Mogeni, Pheroze Nowrojee Otiende Amollo and Paul Mwangi’s legal services are reportedly at high stakes especially in numerous governorship petitions across the country.
Other than Nowrojee and Mwangi, it's said, the rest were only working on pro bono given they were elected by various NASA affiliates.
Already, Orengo and Amollo’s services have been registered by Governor Amoth Rasanga of Siaya and Kajiado loser David Nkedienye.
In Kisii and Nyamira Counties, Mogeni was last week busy filing responses on behalf of Governor John Nyagarama (Nyamira) and James Ongwae [Kisii] whose election is being challenged.
Mr. Nowrojee and Mwangi are said to be giving legal aid to Ex-Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and his Wajir counterpart Ahmed Abdillahi.
Various legal pundits claim that the Supreme Court ruling could affect several cases across the country with many by- elections expected.
