Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Kioko Kamula claims Embakasi East MP Babu Owino gave police difficult time before his Monday’s apprehension.
Owino, a first term ODM MP, has spent two nights in police custody over allegations of demeaning President Uhuru Kenyatta in a weekend rally at Kawangware.
And in his application, Kamula objected releasing of Owino on bail adding that, he may violate court summons in subsequent hearings.
“He gave the police difficult times and we were forced to use tracking gadgets to arrest him. He hid in different locations just running away from us.
“If he is granted bail, we may even face tough times ahead because he has shown that honoring summons doesn’t seem objective to him. We don’t want to track him again,” he said.
Prior to his arrest, Owino had dared police to arrest him, maintaining that ‘cells are meant for human beings’.
He has since ben released on a Sh500, 000 cash bail by a Nairobi court.
