President Uhuru Kenyatta may have after all sidelined his Deputy William Ruto from nomination of nine individuals to his cabinet, reports the Sunday Nation.
Despite having graced together such occasions in the past, the DP was conspicuously absent from State House, a move that has raised tensions with the ruling Jubilee party.
"Let me find out. I don't think the occasion is about naming cabinet members," an ally to DP Ruto told the Nation moments after a circular on State House address emanated.
The source further claims that Ruto, an integral figure in Jubilee was given heads up moments to announcement, a move that could have annoyed him further.
According to the Nation, the event was surrounded by secrecy with the media also kept in darkness, with KBC also kept at bay on the content of President's address.
"The KBC crew did not know the content of the address. Other media houses were never invited, a departure from the 2013."
Sources intimate that both Uhuru and Ruto met on December 23 and since then, the two have never seen eye to eye.
Further, Ruto is said to be opposed to the inclusion of Ukur Yatani, Keriako Tobiko and John Munyes to cabinet.
