Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula is set to know his fate as the Senate Minority leader today.
A meeting to pick his replacement by NASA senators is formally underway.
National Super Alliance’s (NASA) Senate Parliamentary Group meeting seeks to regularise Senator James Orengo’s nomination to the position.
According to the Standard, Wetangula wants the meeting to be held on Tuesday with the other co-principals to save him from the ouster.
On Thursday last week, Wetangula was ousted by ODM senators from the minority seat.
On Friday, he received backing from two other co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), who said he is the substantive NASA leader in the Senate.
The Monday meeting is a result of Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka’s ruling that Wetangu’la’s removal, though valid, remains suspended until NASA coalition elects his successor in accordance with Parliament’s Standing orders
