As the August 8, polls draw closer the Opposition's Nasa coalition is still 'struggling' to come up with supporter-pleasing combination of who will be the presidential flag bearer.
The four coalition principals met in Kwale over the weekend, to discuss and deliberate a report by its Committee, mandated to come up with a report of who should be the flag-bearer, and who should get what, if the coalition takes over as Kenya's fifth government.
Sources indicate the report recommended ODM party leader Raila Odinga be the president, deputised by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka; ANC party leader who was behind the Nasa tag, be made the Chief Minister, while Ford Kenya party leader, Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula, takes the duties of the Speaker of either the National Assembly or Senate, or be the Majority Leader, of either of the Houses.
This would only happen, if Nasa wins in the 2017 general elections.
However, there are fears that Kalonzo's following could reject their leader's option of becoming number two. This follows frequent warnings by his supporters, that Kalonzo should be made the Nasa flag bearer, or else Wiper would opt out of the coalition.
On the other hand, the Committee feared that if the former prime minister's name would no be on the presidential ballot, voters in his Nyanza region and those in Coast region, where his ODM party enjoys massive support, would not come out to vote, hence denying the coalition, a chance to defeat their Jubilee rivals, headed by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The four leaders have since vowed to stick together, saying Nasa was more than an individual.
Kenyans still await to know who becomes the coalitions' head, to battle it out with Uhuru, and other presidential aspirants who have also vowed to take over Kenya's leadership.
