Politics is a numerical game and National Super Alliance running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has a tough test come August 8.
The former Vice President will have to deliver convincingly for NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga. This will be for the good of the aging Raila and a plus to Musyoka’s 2022 presidential bid.
The Wiper party boss has a mandate of delivering at least 85% OF 627,168 (total registered voters in Machakos County as per IEBC register) votes from Machakos County something that is not an evening walk in his flower garden. The Wiper Democratic Movement party boss has to work smart for him to deliver a win for Raila. A poor share of the NASA votes will automatically place Musalia Mudavadi as the rightful heir to Raila Odinga presidency should the opposition alliance win in August.
Regardless of the fact that Musyoka is the running mate, the 2022 candidate will be determined the August performance in numerical terms per principal. However, Musyoka’s future looks dimmer as he approaches the 70s. He is getting older and at the same time, his local base is ever weakening.
The threat posed by Governor Alfred Mutua and the defection of Senator Muthama and the rest makes Kalonzo a vulnerable veteran politician.
The shambolic nominations are another reason Musyoka will not fully deliver Machakos to NASA.
