Moi's ID number 1 - or 0000001; was used to register Joseph Marrion Nchabani Mwika, born January 1, 1968. Mwika's unique identity in the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) system is 575114.

The forner president's name did not appear in the voter register when his ID number was keyed. Instead it is Mwika’s name that poped up, giving a node to fears that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC's) register may have been tampered with.

On the other hand, Kibaki’s ID number - 2 or 00000002; was used to register eight different persons as voters, as indicated by the Daily Nation.

They include, Kanja Julius Ngede Kihinge, Duncan Muia, Caroline Nduta, Gitonga Wilson Kimathii, Victoria Gatwiri, Mbinya Wanjiru, Evans Kariuki Kirinya, and Mu Ko Mugara.

The eight are assigned unique identification numbers in the BVR system.

The Newspaper established that Kibaki's ID, which was replaced as a duplicate on October 11, 2005, was not registered as his, in the voter's list.

"It is alarming that people have the temerity to manipulate such rare ID numbers,'' said Kibaki’s spokesperson, Gituku Ngare.

The case proves Oppositions' fears that a lot of ID card numbers belonging to certain people were being used by other persons to register as voters.

Cord leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka's ID's were also used to register, other people, as voters.
