Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Thursday pleaded with the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti to expose the identity of politicians who have been implicated in the Sh1.9 billion maize scandal at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
The new revelations at the NCPB have revealed that top government officials may have been involved in the heist that has rocked the board. NCPB is on the spot for awarding huge proceeds of the maize delivered to the national strategic reserve.
The MP further urged the relevant institutions to intensify their probe over the heist and bring to book the perpetrators and their conspirators
"If there is any politician or any other individual who is behind this maize scandal, they could be those who pushed the manager of NCPB Eldoret to pay certain individuals."
"For a long time, Rift Valley MPs have been bearing the brunt of being accused of not helping the over 4,000 maize farmers in the region to secure payment at the NCPB," he said.
The vocal Jubilee MP further wondered the existence of payment disparities among the suppliers of the stable food, saying some get their remuneration lately while others get expeditiously.
"As Uasin Gichu and by extension Rift Valley leaders, we have had challenges of how to solve the problems facing the farmers. We have now come to realize that some farmers are getting more pay than others."
