Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok on Tuesday snubbed the controversial swearing-in of his party leader, Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park.Several opposition leaders attended the event which saw Odinga declare himself People's President before thousands of supporters.
Nanok who was elected on an ODM party ticket, however did not show up for the event. Instead, the Council of Governors chairman alongside other Jubilee government leaders met Deputy President William Ruto for the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) meeting at the Harambee Annex office, in Nairobi.
During the meeting, Ruto urged county governments to align their programmes and development priorities along the Big Four pillars of food security, manufacturing, housing and healthcare.
"This seamless, two-tier approach to service delivery will better lives and realise sustainable, inclusive growth. We are keen to provide the infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure success," said the DP.
Also present were Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, her Bomet counterpart Joyce Laboso among others.
