NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said that the alliance will decide on whom between Former Kenyan High Commissioner Ali Chirau Mwakere (Wiper) and Issa Chipera (ODM) to face off with Kwale incumbent governor Salim Mvurya.
Raila, who is contesting for Presidency for his fourth time, said that the opposition cannot afford to lose the seat to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s camp when that time comes.
Speaking at the Diani showground after traversing Kwale County, Raila, a former prime minister, said that fielding the two candidates is likely to give the current governor an upper hand over the opposition.
“We don’t want Mvurya to win and that is why we have started talking to our two candidates. We want one of them to step down,” said Raila, as quoted by Standard. Mvurya fell out with Raila, accusing him of frustrating him since he took over power.
The county boss has been faulting Raila and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, saying they are to blame for lack of development at the Coast.
The opposition leaders also dismissed claims that Jubilee defeated Cord on fair grounds. He said that the ruling party received votes because of sympathy.
He also said that they rigged to ensure that they win.
“Jubilee did not defeat us . . . they stole and got sympathy votes because of ICC. Kenyans were then also ignorant on the duo’s character but now that they are known it will be hard for them,” he said.
