Lugari MP Ayub Savula has announced that Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi will take the opposition alliance NASA leadership mantle from Raila Odinga after the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking shortly after launching his re-election bid over the weekend, the legislator noted that the Luhya Community will fully back NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga during the August polls so that Mudavadi can take over after five years.

“If Luhyas vote for Raila, Mudavadi will, by virtue of proximity, inherit Raila’s Nyanza political base in 2022. It must be known that NASA is Mudavadi’s brainchild,” he said.

“Luhyas will play a key role in the NASA administration and this sets the stage for a Luhya presidency after Raila," he added.

The lawmaker further faulted the Jubilee administration for failing to honour its pledges to the electorate in the run up to the 2013 general elections.

“I was a friend of Ruto and even used to have dinner with him at his Sugoi home. But he cheated me that he would ensure roads are tarmacked in this area,” he said.

Details of the NASA deal unveiled at Uhuru Park indicated that Raila Odinga would be President for only one term.
