The nullification of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s win on Friday has enabled Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to gain back his control of the Ukambani politics.
According to Wiper leaders, Kalonzo is likely to scout for former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala to deputize former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti as she seeks to ascend to power.
The sources indicate that Kiala, who contested as an Independent candidate, is likely to be of more importance to Ndeti when that time comes.
In the previous line-up ahead of the 2017 general elections, former East African Legislative Assembly legislator Peter Mathuki was Wavinya's running mate.
"In the event the court orders that we must hold a by-election for Machakos gubernatorial seat, we will most likely see Wavinya-Kiala combination," said Chris Mutinda, the coordinator of 'Ugatuzi na Kiala' movement.
Kiala has, however, said he is ready to contest on a Wiper ticket if he is given the chance.
The politician still believes he has what it takes to ascend to power if a by-election is held.
"In the last election, I was an independent candidate in the race. But this time round, I'm open for consultation with Wiper Party and I may consider their request to fly the gubernatorial party ticket if the party offers such opportunity," Kiala said.
