The county government of Uasin Gishu is planning to hold an urgent meeting with education stakeholders so as to discuss and review the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results.Governor Jackson Mandago says the meeting has been necessitated by a mass failure among candidates who sat for the examinations across the country.Speaking in Eldoret on Saturday, Mandago lamented that hundreds of the candidates had been locked out of getting university slots due to the results that have elicited mixed reactions amongst various stakeholders. The governor revealed that in Uasin Gishu alone, there were 500 Es and 3,900 D-s."These statistics are very worrying and we need to sit down as stakeholders and discuss the results and look at the best way going forward," Mandago said. There have been calls for thorough investigations into the cause of mass failures in the 2017 KCSE which saw over half of the candidates fail to attain grades to enable them to proceed to higher education or secure gainful employment. An analysis of the results countrywide shows that 135,550 candidates scored grade D, 179,381 grade D- and 35,536 grade E.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
