Nyachae and Obure were the pioneers of the infamous Otamba declaration and reports indicate that the two will go for Senatorial and gubernatorial jobs respectively in 2017 polls.

However, a source who spoke on condition of anonymity since he is not authorised to speak on behalf of Nyachae said the former CIC chairman was under duress from his father, Simon Nyachae to support the unity, contrary to his wishes.

“This is all about politics and Nyachae had indicated that he would run for the gubernatorial seat, a decision which seems to have been hijacked by Obure. He is not comfortable with the current set up but he is under pressure from the father,” said the source.

The source added: “Most of his kinsmen were of the ideas that he goes for the gubernatorial seat and a number of them have retreated when they heard him being fronted to go for the senatorial job. This has put in in a dilemma.”

But in a quick rejoinder on Friday, Nyachae denounced the speculation and insisted that he was fully supporting Omogusii unity.

“Those are rumor mongers trying to hijack the good course of Omogusii unity. I am comfortable to be part of it and when the time of politicking comes, we shall seek a mandate from the people,” he said on a call.
