Opposition leader Raila Odinga may after all boycott elections should IEBC fail ton institute a host of radical changes ahead of October polls.

Already, a defiant Odinga has called for mass protests across the country targeting to evict a number of IEBC officials among them CEO Ezra Chiloba.

But should the protests fail to achieve the target, Odinga may revert to paralyzing voting in his key strongholds, a move that could sabotage IEBC’s credibility under article 138(2) of the constitution.

“It is now likely that he will boycott elections and perhaps focus on ensuring no constituency elections takes place in his strongholds,” says lawyer Moseti Moseti, adding that the move could lead to nullification of outcome.

He adds:”the article protects him and should elections fail to take place, a serious issue over returns from all constituencies will come to question.”

With yet a possible looming constitutional crisis, a defiant Chiloba maintains he will still oversee October elections.

Also, Odinga wants contracts awarded to Al Ghurair and OT – Morpho revoked on grounds that the two companies are biased and unauthentic.
