The move my ODM Party to replace Moses Wetangula as the Senate Minority Leader could trigger a series of changes in the coalition’s house positions.
The party intends to replace Wetangula with Siaya Senator James Orengo, in what could cause a chain reaction in different positions.
According to reports, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Amalala and his Narok counterpart Ledama Ole Kina are angling to replace Orengo, as the deputy leader of the minority at the senate.
However, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr will however retain his seat as senate minority whip.
In other proposed changes, nominated Senator Petronillah Were could also lose the deputy minority whip office to ODM’s nominated senator Beatrice Kwamboka.
Despite the sibling rivalry, the NASA leaders have still maintained that the coalition was intact.
The problems dogging the coalition only heightened when Raila Odinga met president Uhuru Kenyatta and agreed to work together.
According to the other principals, Odinga took the step without involving them, which ideally locked them out of the agreement.
The ODM senators are set to meet on Tuesday morning at the senate lounge, where they will make the changes before presenting them to the senate speaker for effect.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Monday moved to quell the rumours, saying he had spoken to Odinga, who promised that the ODM leaders will not move ahead with the plan.
