It is alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are 'scared' of Peter Kenneth, after he announced his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial post, through Jubilee party.
The two are said to be in differences over the matter, since they are worried that Kenneth's candidature will hamper Uhuru's re-election.
This means Uhuru is 'afraid' of welcoming Kenneth in Jubilee, because of his political relationship with Ruto.
Ruto's 'men' are also worried about the same, with fears that if the former 2013 presidential aspirant gets elected as Nairobi governor, he will hamper Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions.
“Ruto’s men see Kenneth as an impediment to his 2022 quest for president. He has brought a wedge between President Uhuru and DP Ruto. There is a feeling among Ruto’s camp that if he becomes the governor, he will inherit the Mt Kenya bloc and lock out Ruto,'' said the Star.
It is rumoured that Uhuru is conducting voter registration campaigns without Kenneth, in fear that if he does so, Kenneth might hamper his re-election.
Jubilee politicians in Nairobi County are split over who to support, after at least four of them announced bid to unset incumbent Dr Evans Kidero.
They include senator Mike Sonko, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru (former Starehe MP), and Dennis Waweru (Dagorretti South MP).
