Although considered an opposition turf, President Uhuru Kenyatta may score from a section of regions in Nyanza on August election.
The region has predominantly voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga in past elections given his deep political base.
With six counties occupied by Luo, Kuria and Kisii communities, Odinga has however failed in the past to consolidate high percentage of support from the two Bantu speaking groups (Kuria and Kisii).
The Abagusii community occupies Nyamira and Kisii Counties while the Kuria community resides in the neighboring Migori County.
According to the statistics released by the electoral body IEBC, the two communities make almost a million voter composition and could tilt the presidential race.
In 2013, Kenyatta managed to score 29 percent in Kisii and 26 percent in Nyamira hence managing to surpass the constitutional threshold.
Having been earmarked as a tossup region by Jubilee strategists, Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have traversed the region in a vote hunt mission.
Expectedly, Odinga is likely to dominate the region but he has a burden to diminish Jubilee’s influence which is said to be on an upward trajectory.
