Raila Odinga may have survived long in politics because it is difficult for people to 'hate or love' him, says incoming Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

For close to four decades now,  the firebrand veteran opposition leader has hit headlines, causing headache to establishments.

At Consolata Shrines while eulogising Yvonne Wamalwa, widow to Ex-VP Michael Wamalwa, Eugene said the late Vice President had coined the myth.

"There is one thing Mike (Michael Wamalwa) said about Raila that people may not know. You cannot hate or love him in full.

"And he said, that is something called Railaphobia and Raila mania. We saw that when he took presidential oath," he said.

Former President Daniel Moi witnessed youthful days of radical Raila, who was persistently detained by authorities.

On Wednesday, the government warned that it will initiate crackdown on people who are believed to have administered oath to Raila.
