Lack of organization by Kisii Jubilee presidential campaign team and poor attendance were the major reason behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s short address at Gusii stadium.
On Monday, Kenyatta had visited the vote rich county to woo over 500, 000 voters in a region that his team classified as swing.
But against his expectations, Kenyatta was first diverted to an impromptu visit at Suneka to allow organizers of the main rally to mobilize more people to enter the stadium.
“Organizers were a bit confused and they had to fix an emergency stopover at Suneka so that they could be allowed to mobilize more people,” a source familiar to Jubilee activities told the reporter in confidence.
“The stadium was half empty and that even angered the head of state. Many resources had been diverted to Gusii region and that is why perhaps he summarized his speech due to poor attendance,” adds the source.
But Kisii senatorial aspirant Charles Nyachae has dismissed the claims as ‘mere’ rumour by a ‘desperate’ opposition team.
“The rally went on well and the president passed his message well regardless of the time he used,” said Nyanchae.
