U.S Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec met with NASA's highest-ranking leadership in the National Assembly and the Senate yesterday.While in favour of dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, Ambassador Godec was uncompromising on this point: There can be no other presidential election until after 5 years in 2022.“According to the ambassador, we can’t have another election, but we need to work with the outcome of the previous elections,” Mbadi said yesterday of Godec according to the People Daily.This will come as a shocker to the NASA rank and file who have been pinning their hopes on discussions that will result in fresh elections.Godec encouraged the opposition to instead focus on uniting the deeply divided country by agreeing to dialogue.This comes in the build-up to Raila Odinga's swearing-in on January, 30; a prospect that Godec has spoken strongly against.
