Although ODM leader Raila Odinga has denied knowledge of Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetangula, two members of ODM party and one ANC senator are said to have pushed the move.

Speaker Kenneth Lusaka confirmed receiving a letter signed by at least 16 senators, which technically validated Wetangula's ouster, a move he has promised to fight back.

"We don't recognize ODM in the senate. Whoever thinks I was invited to NASA is wrong. If at all we shall have a divorce, it will be noisy, messy and with causalities," he said.

On Friday, Wetangula reportedly refused to accompany Raila to Kisii even with the latter maintaining that the ouster was illegal.

But according to an insider who spoke in confidence, Senators Ledama Ole Kina (Narok), Judith Pareno (Nominated) and Cleophas Malala (Kakamega) plotted the move.

"They (Malala, Pareno and Ledama) have been questioning Wetangula's leadership. They were on front in collection of signatures."

Under the new plan, Ledama is proposed to take over as Deputy Minority Whip while Malala would replace James Orengo who would be elevated to Wetangula's position.

Whether or not Wetangula would survive will largely depend on Raila's final say, even though he has already condemned the move.
