Upon landing, Raila was received by DP William Ruto's political rival Gideon Moi, Tiaty MP William Kamket, Nick Salat and conspicuously, Moiben MP Silas Tiren.

When asked about details of the meeting, Kamket, the author of constitutional amendment bill, was quick to reveal some of the details that could be bad news to Ruto.

"There are discussions to have Raila back Gideon Moi in 2022, I can tell you that," said Kamket, the first term KANU legislator.

He added: "I do not know how this will pan out but I can tell you, in the meeting, 2022 was definitely in the picture."

But when asked about the meeting, KANU Secretary General Nick Salat, was a bit cautious, insisting that the meeting was all about unitary talks.

"It was very very good. We want to play part of bringing the country together. It had became a situation where you could smell tension."

At 73, Raila remains an integral part in Kenya's tricky political landscape given his unweavering support across the country.

More predictably, his meeting with Moi has raised eyebrows within DP Ruto's camp with Majority Leader Aden Duale sending a warning.

"Those who intend to be in 2022 race, you don't need such visits. Just come and face us," he said, as he handshake aftermath between Raila and Uhuru Kenyatta continues to shape.
