Outgoing CSs have been employing all manner of strategies to bring pressure to bear on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto to retain them in their second-term government.The following are some of the strategies that they have used:Use of politicians: The CSs have been using politicians to publicly campaign for them. Uasin Gishu politicians have come out strongly in their support for CS Charles Keter.Laikipia legislators have lobbied on behalf of CS Kiunjuri.Use of community elders: Elders from Meru and Tharaka Nithi addressed the media this week, lobbying President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider their son, who they said has performed impeccably. Leveraging traditional and social media: The CSs have been taking advantage of traditional and social media to get publicity.Their Twitter handles have been very active and they have also been giving interviews to the mainstream media.
