Garissa Township MP Aden Duale and Governor Nathif Jama have been reading from two opposing scripts, especially on matters surrounding governance.
The duo have been pointing accusing fingers to each other, leaving the electorate at the mercy of poverty, insecurity, sickness, illiteracy and stunted developments.
It is now apparent that the duo's animosity and rivalry goes beyond differing political ideologies. A quick examination of Duale's and Jama's political paths could point to the notion that their differences emanate from politics.
According to a revelation from an insider at the Garissa County government, Duale's bitterness against the incumbent Jama started off immediately the latter was declared the duly elected governor by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission after the March 2013 elections.
The informer discloses that Jama's troubles with Duale began when his county officials exposed a syndicate where the MP's Medina Pharmaceutical Company invoiced the the county's health ministry for unsupplied drugs for Garissa hospital.
When Jama came in, he tried to change the face of the situation, a fact that triggered off the sharp cold war between him and the vocal Jubilee Township MP. This battle went further to affect senior officers at the county hospital who became victims of circumstances, and eventually became jobless.
It is alleged that the current county leadership has been a stumbling block to the MP's business, a reason that has compelled him to root for the elimination of Jama's administration from serving a second term.
