Photo/Courtesy]Nairobi senator and gubernatorial hopeful Mike Sonko says, he earns Sh1,000 salary, monthly.He indicated his salary as a senator is slightly above Sh1 million, but the money is usually diverted to charitables, insurance, among other deductions, leaving him with only Sh1,000."My salary is Ksh1,000. That's what I earn. Even though I have a big salary as a senator, I don't get that money. It is usually diverted to fund my rescue services, donations, insurance, among other things. What I take home is Sh1,000,'' said the flamboyant lawmaker.Speaking 'on the bench' during Citizen TV's JKL show, Sonko who seeks to oust incumbent governor Dr Evans Kidero, after securing a Jubilee Party ticket in the just concluded primaries, said he is usually helped by well wishers."I survive because of well wishers, my friends and people of good will. For example, I fuel my rescue team vehicles at a petrol station here in Nairobi, free of charge. This is because of my help to the people, and that's why they also help me out. The fuel is usually paid for, by a company in Industrial area,'' he said, Wednesday.The rare well composed Sonko re-affirmed his commitment to the people of Nairobi, saying he will serve them diligently, if elected governor, August 8.
