Wiper Party leader and former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka has said that the greatest problem facing the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) is the inability to keep secrets.
According to Kalonzo, members of the opposition have failed terribly when it comes to keeping their matters private.
In an exclusive interview with the Standard, Kalonzo said that the failure to keep secrets is likely to give President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto another term because they are out to look for more members to strengthen their party.
Kalonzo cited the entry of Peter Kenneth and Martha Karua in the gubernatorial race. “The biggest problem with us in the Opposition is ourselves, we don’t keep secrets. Now we are shouting supper alliance, they’ll go and buy out everybody. Peter Kenneth and Martha Karua have decided to go,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
In regard to technique the coalition should use when it comes to selecting the presidential candidate, Kalonzo said that he opposes competitive nominations because they are likely to create animosity among the members.
“We do not have time for competitive nomination because that would create animosity and we know ourselves. I think we will have to agree, agree or disagree, that’s a hard fact,” he said.
