Police on Thursday revealed the Man who has been terrorizing some of the Members of Parliament (MP), Senators and Cabinet secretaries as a 25-year-old Wazir Benson Masubo Chacha.
Mr. Chacha has been accused of sending nude photographs as well as coordinating a scheme where funds were solicited from parliamentarians while posing as Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege.
It is however not known how the 25-year-old supposedly gained access to the politicians but reports indicate that he might have gained access during his tenure at the Ministry of Devolution.
According to DCI Boss George Kinoti, investigations uncovered that Chacha used the Murang'a representative's national identification number to register fake phone numbers which were then used to conduct the scam.
"He used an ID number of a former MP to register an M-Pesa account in the name of Sabina Wanjiku Chege. He did this in Donholm and we have all the details,"
"Police have in the last week been trying to get Chacha but it has been in vain. Instead, he has switched off his five mobile phones and gone into hiding," Kinoti revealed, urging the suspect to surrender.
The DCI boss added that the attendant who registered the four numbers was in custody and would be arraigned in court on March 26.
Several leaders including Cabinet Secretaries Eugene Wamalwa, Peter Munya, Margaret Kobia and former MP Jakoyo Midiwo are reported to have sent money to the fake account.
Police have pledged a reward of KSh 20,000 for anyone who will provide details of his whereabouts.
