Wiper party leader and former vice president have said that he will only stay in the Coalition for Reforms and democracy (Cord) if there is assurance to trounce Jubilee in the next general elections.

Speaking to Radio Jambo, Kalonzo said that it does not make sense to remain in the coalition it will lack a winning strategy. He added that he was willing to support any other candidate for the presidency as long as a win is guaranteed at the end of the day.

“I am ready to sacrifice many more times but there must be reciprocity because this business of 'leaving for others' then we lose is not making sense,” he said.

He rubbished claims that he has plans to leave Cord terming those spreading such information as the same persons who want to bar him from vying for the presidential seat during the next general elections.

“It is ridiculous for one to imagine that I can be enticed with the position of foreign affairs minister to join Jubilee. I have held the position twice under retired presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki,” said Kalonzo.

He added: "I will not leave Cord. It is not a must that we agree on everything. Having different views does not mean we have differed," he said.

A section of politicians from Ukambani led MPs Joe Mutambu (Mwingi North), Francis Mwangangi (Yatta), Richard Makenga (Kaiti) and Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) have called upon Kalonzo to declare his stand failure to which they will lead the community to Jubilee.
