Three coastal counties have been listed as the least corrupt following a report by Kenya's Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
While releasing the report following a research in 2016, EACC chairman Eliud Wabukhala said Lamu, Taita-Taveta, and Tana River were the least corrupt counties across Kenya, followed by Kericho.
Murang'a was listed as the most corrupt county, with Trans Nzoia, Mandera, Kirinyaga and Marsabit recording high corruption rate.
While releasing the survey report on Tuesday, Wabukhala said: "I call upon all county leaders to put in place measures for combating and preventing corruption in county governance systems."
Kenyans seeking services in government offices are forced to pay bribes of up to Sh200,000, with Interior Ministry topping the list of most corrupt departments, followed by Health, Devolution, Education, Transport and Lands.
The regular police department was declared the most corrupt of all government offices followed by the traffic section.
The National Ethics and Corruption Survey 2016 provides information on various aspects of governance both at the National and County levels.
"The overall objective of the survey was to provide credible data that feed the anti-corruption strategy in the country," said Wabukhala.
The report was officially launched by the Chief Guest Dr. Marisella Ouma representing the Office of the Attorney General and EACC Chair Rtd. Archbishop Wabukala, with the Commissioners, CEO Halakhe Waqo and the secretariat in Nairobi.
