A government official has revealed changes that will be enacted at the Kenyatta National Hospital.

The announcement comes at a time when the hospital is on the spot over rape allegations.

According to Health Principal Julius Korir, a number of changes will be enacted to improve the security of the facility.

Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet county on Monday, Korir stated that all corridors at the National Referral hospital will be fitted with CCTV cameras.

He stated that the hospital has CCTV cameras but not in every corner of the facility.

Korir further stated that the National Youth Service will be deployed at the facility to help with security.

He added that the government will be  working with the Nairobi County government in reducing congestion at the facility.

“We will work with Nairobi County to ensure that facilities such as Pumwani and Mbagathi accomodate more patients in order to decogest Kenyatta National Hospital,” said Korir.

KNH has been on the spot after reports emerged that mortuary attendants were sexually harassing lactating mothers in the facility.

Korir further stated the reports were based on rumours even as they await full report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

He was speaking after delivering dilysis machine at the Elgeyo Marakwet county hospital.
